MAXHUB Quick Use Guide

This guide is meant to help users quickly familiarize themselves with the MAXHUB and its basic features and functionality. Follow the instructions below to get started:

Getting Started

Powering On the MAXHUB and Signing in

  • To turn on the MAXHUB, press the power button located on the front of the MAXHUB display at the center of the bottom bezel and wait for the display to power on.

  • The device should automatically sign in to the default user and load the MAXHUB home screen. However, in the event that it does not login automatically, users can restart the MAXHUB through the Windows power menu at the bottom right of the screen or by holding the display's power button until it turns red and then pressing the button once more after that to power it on again.

  • Users also sign in using their OU 4x4 by selecting the Switch User button at the bottom left corner of the lock screen and then providing their credentials.

Audio and Volume Control

  • The volume can be adjusted with the buttons found on the provided keyboard, the volume slider in the MAXHUB side bar menu or the volume slider found within the Windows environment.

  • Ensure any connected devices (personal device, Bluetooth speaker, etc.) have their volume set appropriately.

Using the Touchscreen and Launcher

  • Touchscreen

    • Users can interact with the MAXHUB entirely through the touchscreen, either by hand or with one of the included styluses.

    • Tapping on one of the semi-translucent arrow icons found on the left and right side of the display will load the MAXHUB side bar menu. This menu features quick access to applications and various MAXHUB settings.

  • Home Page

    • From the launcher’s home page the user can start various apps and shortcuts, view the current time and share the screen of their personal device.

    • While more frequent apps and features can be accessed from this page, the user can also view all available apps through the All apps button on the bottom of the home screen.

    • Users can also navigate to a Windows desktop by selecting the icon in the lower left corner of the home screen.

  • Welcome Page

    • Swiping from left to right on the home screen will bring up the welcome page. This is predominantly used as a general greeting screen and is a perfect placeholder while meeting attendees are still arriving in person.

    • Users can pick from premade templates by selecting the Template button. This will load a menu that is populated with said templates and the user can then choose to set one as the default template or customize the page further from the Customize tab.

    • This page can be customized to the users liking and easily reset once finished. Users can change the style of background, adjust text on the page and upload their own image or video through the lower left toolbar on the welcome page.

Features and Functionality

Wireless Screen Sharing

  • To connect and share their screen wirelessly, users should first ensure their laptop or mobile device is connected to the WIFI@OU network.

  • Open the wireless screen sharing app from the home page or select the pairing code displayed at the top of the screen.

  • Follow on-screen instructions to connect your device, select which source you would like to share (browser tab, window, or entire screen) and then start sharing your screen to the display.

Using the Windows PC Interface

  • To access the Windows PC environment, select the Windows icon in the lower left corner of the home screen.

  • The default user should be signed in automatically. However, users can choose to switch to a separate user and put in their OU 4x4 credentials to gain access as well (some applications might not be available if done so).

  • Most installed applications can be reached from the desktop or start menu.

Users should ensure that they are completely signed out of their OU 4x4 account once finished using the PC environment.

Start a Meeting

  • To start a meeting, users can open the meeting application of their choice from the home page, desktop or All apps page.

Whiteboard and Annotation

  • Whiteboard

    • The whiteboard can be found on the MAXHUB home page, the All apps section and can also be launched by swiping up from the bottom of the screen

    • Once launched, the user will be presented with a blank grid screen and toolbar at the bottom.

    • The toolbar is where the drawing tools can be tweaked and adjusted to the user’s liking. Additionally, users can also insert various graphics, tables, mind-maps, notes and files to the whiteboard through the toolbar.

    • When users are finished, they can also choose to export their whiteboard page and save it using the Save button in the toolbar.

If exported as an MHB file, the user can import it into another MAXHUB whiteboard session later on and continue where they left off.

  • Annotation

    • Annotation allows users to write over the current screen and make notes. It can be turned on through the side bar menu and then closed out using the button on the toolbar.

    • Annotation can also be exported similar to whiteboard sessions.

Finishing Up

  • Signing Out and Powering Down

    • Once finished using the MAXHUB, users should ensure they have signed out of all their personal and university accounts.

    • Additionally, users should make certain that they have exported any important files or work they have saved directly to the MAXHUB since all of said files will be deleted at the end of each day and when the display is turned off.

  • Powering Off the MAXHUB

    • Press and hold the power button located on the front of the MAXHUB display at the center of the bottom bezel until it turns red.

    • This can be achieved through the Windows environment as well by selecting Shut down from the Windows Power menu.
