Interview Funnel

HR’s screening based on our posted requirements and review of candidate cover letters and resumes.

First Interview: 30-minute initial call with candidates to discuss the position, answer questions, and get a general sense of the candidate. Questions include the following and will not be scored. Candidates will pass if there are no red flags. Our questions will include:

  • What is most interesting to you about working in higher ed or the University of Oklahoma Libraries specifically?

  • Is there anything we can do to support you in this interview process so that we can evaluate you accurately for this role?

Homework Exercise: Email 1-2 hour exercise to candidates. Candidates will have one week to complete, and we’ll score the homework and rank candidates, with the plan that we’ll invite highest ranked candidates to second interview.

Second Interview: 60 minutes. Focused on expertise and teamwork.
~ 5 minutes for introductions
~ 15 minutes to ask prepared question set, emailed to candidate in advance, but answered in the interview.
~ 30 minutes to ask on-the-spot question set, not shared with candidate in advance
~ 10 minutes reserved for interviewee questions

Third Interview: about 60 minutes, split between project partners and leadership. An opportunity for our top candidate(s) to meet with product stakeholders and leadership, focused on culture and bigger picture.
