Libraries Site Updates

• Added Bizzell floor maps link to locations page.

• Added better descriptive text for the research guides link on the resources page.

• Updates to the following modules: blazy, cas, bootstrap styles, slick views, slick carousel

• Fixes to ECA/automated emails for eresources creation, edits, and deletion.

• Core 9.5.11 critical security update.

• Added publishing status to locations, units, and special collections. Now, theses items can follow the content maintainer workflow like basic pages and show up as unpublished/drafts in the content dashboard.

• Fixed broken OU links in the footer since OU marcomm changed them.

  • Changing footer additional links section from 2 columns to one column since there are only 5 links now. Combined legal notice and policies since they were the same page. No need for 2 columns now. Cleaner/more unified look now.

• Launched new liaisons page - Liaisons | OU Libraries

  • Replaced old liaisons view (same URL)

• Contributed module updates: ECA modeller, views templates, Bootstrap Barrio.

• Style fixes for reserve a room buttons.

• Locations display fix for hrs pdf.

• Site search results update!

  • Search api changes to show better results. Now with excerpt of text found.

  • Fixed bug of incorrect results showing up or not showing up.

  • Style is now more in line with the site.

  • Updates to locations, units, news to reflect new search config changes for those content types.

• User profile updates

  • Removed contact form

  • Added field to manage hide/show of email on profiles of library staff only.

  • If checked in user profile, user email will show on profile as well as the resources by subject pages if that user is the librarian for the subject(s).

• XML Sitemap added for SEO/search results improvement.

• Hours for new 5th floor special collections page are now working correctly.

Libraries Site Updates

• Fixed contact form bug. Now sends emails correctly.

• Added locations to the departments field for user profiles. Since some employees are tied to a location more than a department/unit. This helps with some of the user displays.

• Accessibility improvements for resources by subject page and employee directory view.

• NWC library contact form added.

login.libraries.ou.edu updates to allow dev sites to authenticate on 8/7/2023 during regular maintenance window.

Alma August Production Release Part 2

Libraries Site Updates

• General

  • Removed assignment template content type (not used)

  • Removed testing content types named “Type 1” and “Type 2“.

  • Update to DAVIS contact form.

  • MY ILL link correction to interlibrary loan contact form.

  • Removed migrate tools, path redirect import, and rules modules.

  • Updated modules: style options, bpmn.io, vbo.

• New as of 08/10

  • New font changes!

    • Body changed from freight text pro to Aboria and 18px.

    • Headers increased in size

  • Visited links are now the "dark crimson". Matches OU branding color scheme.

  • E-resources updates

    • Proxy links are working correctly for specially encoded eresources

  • External link icon is now more accessible and no longer an image. It now uses better aria labels and is a svg.

  • Sitemap module added. Not configured yet, but is now in place.

  • New chatbot added back to dev and test. More work needs to be done in training since it is going to have to re-learn everything. Will push to live when we feel it is more ready.

  • Recent favorites list fixes:

    • Proxy URL’s for eresources properly work.

    • Correctly sorting by most recent favorited.

    • Increased to latest 10 from 5.

  • Changed quick link from “ArchiveSpace” to “Search Archival Collection”.

  • Added additional note for favorites migration help.

  • Added sorting by name or date favorited to both eresource and guides lists.

  • Fixed search issues. Keywords(description search) as well as eresource name search much improved.

    • Same for k-12 eresources page.

• Drupal ECA Added

  • Stands for event, condition, action. Replacing our rules from previous version. This is what auto-sends emails when things like eresources are added and modified. All rules/emails are now migrated!

  • Removed older events API method and added newer more efficient cached method on AWS.

• General

  • Various permission changes to edit and view content correctly.

• Search

  • Major improvement to search functionality.

  • Implemented search api so a user can now search all content including text found inside the content, users, subjects, locations, etc.

  • Far more robust than previous search.

  • Keep in mind, this is still a work in progress. We will continue to add functionality and features to this. The main goal of switching to search api was to get search to where needs to be as a MVP.

Libraries Beta Test Site Update

• Home

  • Fixed issue where the “Contact” menu item was positioned incorrectly for some users.

  • Contact Us link in footer text changed to “Ask Us”.

  • Explore image and link removed. That section is now 2x2 and no longer uses H2’s for links

• Hours Page

  • Updated main header to be just “OU Libraries Hours” and added secondary header to be “All Locations”.

• General

  • Small changes to Content Dashboard to show more content types for maintainers. Should be more robust now. If you do not see all of your content, make sure to check in the “Advanced Search” link of “My Content”.

• Bookmark Cafe Page

  • Removed mention of hrs and now linking to OU Housing and Food Services site for more info (Change made on current site as well).

• Eresources

  • Fixed 100’s of broken links due to bad data via export. Links should now be correct.

• Resources by subject list (Home and resources pages)

• E-resources page 

  • Fixed page headings for accessibility. Nothing visually changing here.

  • Fixed accessibility issue where “More Information” for each item was a heading. Changed to just text. 

• All basic pages (Examples: About, contact, any page that is under /content/)

  • Featured lists paragraphs style copied from current site was not set up in an accessible way and had improper headings. Looks the same after fix, but is correct in terms of headings. 

• Services

  • Renamed “Publication Services” headings in services pages to “Open @ OU”

  • Text of first link in these sections changed to “Overview of Services & Initiatives”

• /Employees Page

  • Fixed permissions issue where some logged in user roles did not have access to this page.

• Individual Resource by Subject pages

  • Red line under librarian now only shows up if there are multiple librarians.

Libraries Current Site Update

• Updated “Libraries Service Center” to “Library Service Center” on locations page.

Libraries Beta Test Site Update

• Launched the public beta test site

  • Created a persistent alert at the top of the beta site to notify users that they are on the beta site

  • Created a “Test Our Beta Site” button at the top of the current site that points to a news story with feedback information

• Locations page re-work based on issues with icons.

  • Updated “Libraries Service Center” to “Library Service Center”

  • Removed icons completely

  • Matched heights of locations sections at top of page

  • Added “Other Libraries” link to middle section.

  • The icon based page will be evaluated at a later date.

• Services page re-work based on issues with icons.

  • Reverted to similar layout on current production.

  • Main /services page saves an extra click and functions as the “All services” page but now has the individual links to other services at the top.

  • This will be a lot more familiar to users of the site the the icon based page will be evaluated at a later date.

• Behind the scenes

  • Added php redirect code that will force use of https.

  • Updated Drupal Core to 9.5.9

  • Lots of updates to search!

  • Fixed small gap in corners of search panels.

  • A lot more accessible now. Using more proper aria labels as well as better keyboard navigation. 

  • Better mobile view and functionality of search.

  • Fade out the “logged in” alert after 15 sec.

  • Small changes to styling with quick links text.

  • News items description all take up the same height now. Better aligned (/news page as well).

  • Fixed link name under quick links from Research by Subject to Research Guides

  • “Bizzell hours” text changed to “Today's Hours for Bizzell”

  • Fixed missing horizontal line from research guides sections when there are no research guides saved.

• User Profile

  • Reference to departments was still taxonomy. This needed changed to the units content type. 

  • After field change was made, I re-imported user data to re-assign the departments/units correctly.

• User Dashboard (/mycontent)

  • Added dashboard for various site roles that can manage content. Mimics current libraries site functionality. Still in testing phase for full functionality. Should look very familiar to the existing dashboard, only with the new theme. 

• Accessibility and other styling

  • Alt text in main site icon/logo

  • Social links in footer more accessible.

  • Global OU header no longer hidden by screen readers.

  • All events button aria text was incorrect

  • Redundant All favorites link removed on section below hrs banner.

Libraries Alpha Test Site Update

• Home

  • Removed “Homepage” from home. This was not supposed to be there and was showing due to some odd user permissions.

  • Larger font in resources by subject lists.

  • Rename of quick link item to Research Guides.

  • Smaller font for text calling users to log in (next to log in button)

• About

  • Fixed About page. Also related to odd user permissions.

• Locations

  • Complete re-design from first pass. Looks a lot more like the services page now. Might still not be exactly like we want, but please re-evaluate.

  • Phone numbers added to main location info.

  • Made sure all location lists were Alphabetical.

  • Divisions and Units separated again.

  • Added accessibility to tables and use of icons. Will verify w/ Monsido

  • Add Law Library to middle list under new category “affiliate branches”. This can be renamed, just first attempt to separate.

  • Removed map, now only a link

  • Removed characters causing more spacing.

  • Removed some special characters that were incorrect.

    • Renamed My Favorites section header to My Favorites (recent) and only show 5 there

    • Added link to My Favorites section on home page to jump to all favorites

  • Mobile Menu Navigation

    • Square for menu icon a bit darker and more visible

    • Font size for menu items is larger.

  • Tutorials

    • “Back to tutorials list” links added

    • Image based dividers removed for new web standard divider (hr)

  • Units and Divisions hours fixes. Correctly reads out hours for their location if applicable.

  • User Profiles

    • General profile style improvements

    • Added default profile image if user has not uploaded image

    • Hiding profile and contact form if user is not employee
