CardSwipes - for circulation computers @ FA
So we got cardswipes that actually work for circ finally :)). The model number is MU-B3-6 so these are the configuration instructions.
First, go to the website www.idinnovations.com and then click on the downloads tab and then click on the “programming software” FOR THE MAGNETIC CARD READERS. From here, go through all the set up instructions to get the software. Side note: this software will not download and install on Macbooks (or at least it didn’t for me when I tried because it’s acting like the file is archived and zipped but none of my unzippers would work) either way, it was easier on a windows machine so yeah.
From here, plug in the cardswipe you’re wanting to configure. Test these cardswipes with student ID’s since these are what will be used at the circ desks: the configuration will be what you see in the image below. You can save this configuration if you would like (I have it saved to Ben’s because I did four of these and I got lazy) but it only takes like five minutes (and that’s extreme it was more like two) to get these configured and working.
The firmware versions might be different cause it’s 7.7b in the image from the arch one, but on the new circ ones I just did it was like 8.6 or something-- that’s just so it gets along with the computer nicely but shouldn’t affect the settings. Happy swiping
