OU Libraries Assets and Logos
Introduction
This document details the setup and usage of OU Libraries assets and logos. These assets can be used in any public or private application, website, printed, or promotional material. Our main goal was to provide a variety of sizes, colors, and options so that the assets can be optimized to work best with your needs.
Storage
The assets are stored on an OU Libraries owned AWS S3 bucket. This allows for easy control of access as well as extremely fast load times. AWS S3 is also known for its stellar uptime and availability. OU Libraries web team will be the point of contact for adding, removing, and modifying assets.
Available Assets (As of Feb 2024)
Currently, there are two different styles - Stacked and inline. These two styles are available in three color options each - crimson, white, and black.

Sizing options
To help manage multiple sizes, OU Libraries will be using Apple’s sizing naming convention that are commonly used in iOS and MacOS applications.
Size | Stacked size in pixels (w x h) | Inline size in pixels (w x h) |
---|---|---|
0.75x | 161 x 63 | 194 x 37 |
Default/1x (no suffix, just Filename) | 214 x 84 | 258 x 49 |
2x | 428 x 168 | 516 x 98 |
3x | 642 x 252 | 773 x 146 |
4x | 856 x 335 | 1031 x 195 |
Naming Convention
The general naming convention will look like this:
BASE_URL/FILENAME@SIZE.png
All assets will be located under the ul-web-services bucket on AWS S3 under the assets folder. To access any available asset, begin the URL with the following:
https://static.lib.ou.edu/assets/
Secondly, choose the “Filename” from the Available Assets table above. In this case, I will use the top item, “crimson_stacked”. The Filename will be added to the URL after the “/assets/” parameter. So, in this example, the Filename is:
crimson_stacked
Next, you will need to choose the sizing you would like based on pixels from the “Sizing options” table above. This will be used after the Filename portion of the URL. Separate Filename and size with an @ symbol. Make sure you add the “x” as well!
Note: the default (1x) size will be represented by the Filename only.
All images are in .png format so this will always be the ending of the URL.
Examples of other sizes
Smaller sized black letters with logo inline:
