New Wifi Log-in Method for Circulation Dell Loaners
With new rules set by LTP for the Dell Circ loaners, a new method for Wifi access was implemented. Below are the steps and images needed for successful log-in.
(Note for LTP: if there are still laptops like this without the policy, log into local admin and run an admin cmd with the command “gpupdate /force”, then restart the device. This should push the GPO no matter what.)
Instructions
Check these in order:
When opening the computer and tapping/clicking anything, there are 2 things you should see; first is that the wifi is not connected and a blue OU Logon banner.
Not having wifi on the screen above is normal now. Clicking or tapping should bring up the image below.
2. Next, click OK or tap enter to move to where you can type your 4x4; the bottom of the screen should have a line that reads “Windows will try to connect to WIFI@OU”. If not, please create a ticket labeling the specific computer.
3. Now, after entering your 4x4 as usual, some magic happens that automatically connects you to the wifi. Give it 30 seconds or so to do its thing; and sometimes longer if you see the line “Preparing Windows”.
4. And that should be it!
Basic Troubleshooting
In the event something like a freeze, simply try holding down the power button till the Dell logo appears on screen (much like a normal boot cycle). From there, all the steps above should apply and logging in should go like normal.
